Thanks to those who have commented -- in the comments box and by e-mail -- on yesterday's Katrina post.

Just since yesterday, the situation on the Gulf Coast has grown even more dire.

According to the sidebar, House doesn't care about the site meter.

But I do. So I know that, since this blog was launched in January, it's received over 20,000 hits. Right now it's averaging around 70 hits a day.

I don't make a dime on this blog. I don't have a tip jar, I don't display ads. And I plan to keep it this way.

Today I'd like to ask you a favor.

I'm participating in the September 1 blogburst for hurricane relief.

Whether you're one of the readers who's been reading since January, or you've just surfed by for the first time today -- if you've enjoyed this blog, please consider "paying it forward" by donating to hurricane relief.

If you think the blog sucks, please donate to hurricane relief anyway.

Some possibilities:

Catholic Charities USA
The Red Cross
Mercy Corps
The Salvation Army

More on the blogburst, including a big list of relief organizations

The evacuees who sheltered in the Superdome are being moved to the Houston Astrodome. Many of these evacuees are children.
The Houston Society of St Vincent de Paul is organizing children's relief in The Largest Sleepover in Texas. They're getting together new sleeping bags, pillows, PJs and slippers, and crayons and coloring books for these displaced children.

Thanks very much.

Hey there,
I donated earlier today to the Red Cross, and my employer is matching donations.
